Save Money for Wedding!

its been a long time since i blog. nothing much happen. work, go home, sleep - work, go home, sleep. that's why no idea to blog until today!

i was listening to Warna accidentally and they were debating about wang hantaran. so it gave me some ideas to blog. i wanna talk about wedding day. i've got a few ideas on how to save some money for the big day. it may work.

-kompang-
from $150 now i heard its as much as $500. that's half of 1k. no way. makan hatey(hati). boleh matey(mati). tak boleh lah dey. too expensive.
my idea is - rent the kompang itself, no need the men, 10 is enough. gather all your cousins, male or female. teach them how to play the kompang and use them instead! renting is only about $50 at least! yeah! hey, playing the kompang is easy i tell you. of cos to practise, gotta use other stuffs first like textbook or milo tin. or even your desk. in fact 5 people is enough! cos i did it before. me and my MCG members had a mini show for the st patrick's day, and we only use 5 males, i think 6, to play the kompang while about 6 girls did their dance moves with sirih pinang! and the kompang sounds like the kompang! so no problem!

-food and drinks-
this part a bit difficult i guess. cos you still gotta use tukang masak that can cook big amounts of food. well just cut down desserts by buying alot of kuih lapis only at johor! and then just cut them to small pieces. i mean really small pieces. surely people eat it. maybe abit bigger than sugar cubes.

-decorations-
ask your sister or kakak saudara and call all their girlfriends to do deco for you for the table cloths, and maybe the sides of the HDB walls. just buy some nice coloured cloths, some plastic flowers and use those girls' expertise to decorate. i'm very sure the girls love decorating. i don't know why but i think girls like decorating stuffs.

-pelamin-
if only i got friends working as a carpenter, i can use them to make simple stage, get the girls to do some decorations and get 2 chairs, decorate it a bit, then put some Do-It-Yourself lightings. just use the HDB walls for the backdrop of the stage by putting some hari raya langsir that you can get at geylang during bulan puasa.

-entertainment-
ask your friends to play music for free! just provide them with mics and amplifier. i'm very sure your music lover friends who thinks they can sing and compose great malay love songs, don't mind playing to show off to guests. or the best, bring down your mp3 player, plug into a mini HiFi and play all your favourite malay rock ballads! sweet!

-kendarat and tukang cuci pinggan mangkuk-
this one more simple. make sure when you get the tukang masak, tell them no need to bring their own people to do the washing. we'll provide them. just ask your younger siblings and call their friends to come down and help out with the dishes. at the end of the day, just tip them with $10 and one packet of nasi minyak. for the older ones, buy for them 1 pack of malaysian or indonesian cigarrettes and one hand towel. hey, they did that during the old days you know. my uncle told me. except that the cigarettes were from singapore.
kendarat lagi senang. get your sister's girlfriends, ask them to wear nice2 or best, wear kebaya or baju kurung melayu. last but not least, tell them to smile!

-invitation cards-
ask your friend whose a graphic designer, like me, to design a card, the best is A5 size front printing only cos its easy to copy and its half of A4 size paper. then go to a photocopy shop and copy.

-honeymoon-
have you tried going honeymoon to Sentosa? ever thought of it? well, why not! rather then wasting thousands of dollars just for the flights and another few thousands for the hotels, why not use all those money and book the most expensive hotel in Sentosa! Sentosa Resort and Spa, the cheapest room is $380. Rasa Sentosa Resort by Shangri-La, situated at Siloso Beach some more! cheapest room is $240 only!
but what can you do at Sentosa? stupid question... alot of attaractions that you never get the chance to go during your bujang times cos you wanna save money. i myself haven't been to some of the attractions there. so how? Sentosa, your choice for your honeymoon! baik kape!
i love Sentosa. My favourite place since young.

oklah no more ideas already lah. if you got any crazy ideas on saving for your wedding day, tag it alright. my advice is, especially for the guys, save your money now. $200 a month should be enough for you to save until you're really ready to get married. but must start now! i've started my savings already since february. heheh. problem is jodoh. never mind, that can wait.
