Kampung Melayu Geylang Serai Mahu Roboh?!

kau tau kenapa negeri burma tak mau orang2 luar masuk negeri dia, lagi2 orang PBB dari US? sebab dorang takut nanti spy2 US masuk dalam dan akhirnya memecahkan secret bahawa selama ini, korea utara ada nuclear plant kat burma. aku ada kawan kerja, orang sana. dia sendiri yg mengatakan orang ramai banyak yg dah tau pasal nuclear plant kat burma dan mereka pun dapat melihat plant tersebut. dorang tak boleh cakap aje. nanti kena bunuh.

sebab tu lah negeri2 lain yg sanggup nak tolong susah sangat nak masuk walaupun lagi2 US yg sanggup menelan belanja yg banyak untuk menghulur bantuan mangsa2 taufan Nargis.

dah baca pasal kampung melayu geylang serai?
setelah membaca keratan akhbar mengenai kampung melayu geylang serai, rasa sedih dan kecewa dibuatnya kerana apa yg ada kena mengena dengan hal ehwal melayu yg mundur pasti sedih dan ada kalanya memalukan. ada yg mengatakan, robohkan dan buat sebuah kompleks dimana satu sudut menyediakan seni dan budaya melayu. aku tak faham kompleks yg macam mana. tapi bunyinya macam shopping complex yg bertingkat2 seperti joo chiat complex . yang ada mengatakan ubahsuaikan saja.

aku masih ingat lagi bila pertama kali aku pergi sana, aku rasa seronok. sebab aku akan dapat merasakan kawasan kampung melayu yg sebenar. tapi bila dah kat sana, tak rasa sangat. yg banyak kat sana sekadar kedai2. mungkin sebab dulu aku ingat kampung melayu geylang serai is a big outdoor museum of kampung2 melayu. macam museum kat melaka tu. kalau tak salah dipanggil Taman Mini Malaysia is it? yg ada bermacam2 kampung dari different negeri with each has its own unique architecture of the kampung and inside the kampung you can also feel how the atmosphere of kampung feels like with all the barang2 and the orang2 patung yg berpakaian baju melayu. that's what i thought kampung melayu geylang serai was like. tapi gi sana, kampung2nya menjual ubat-ubatan melayu, vcd shop dan yg paling dahsyat, terus dikunci. tapi aku masih ingat lagi rumah temenggong yg rumah kampungnya tinggi disamping tangga batu. aku ingatkan betul2lah rumah temenggong punya museum, sekali tengok atas, temenggong restaurant kalau tak silap aku. alamak upset ah tu part.

kalau nak diubahsuai tempat tu menjadi a totally outdoor museum, i dunno, if it can work. look at Asian Village at Sentosa. habis tu tempat.

but the idea of making a shopping complex is good. but maybe make it like Pasar Seni kat kuala lumpur pun cantik jugak. its like a big giant kampung tapi kat dalam bermacam2 kedai berderetan menjual kraftangan melayu seperti kayu ukir dan lain2 dan mungkin adakan kedai2 yg menjual barang muzik melayu seperti gong, canang, kompang dan rebana. mungkin kedai repair rebana dan kompang, kalau2 kulitnya koyak mahu ditukar daripada membeli yg baru... amcam?

attached below is a must watched documentary. especially us muslims. apa yg aku rasa yg kita boleh belajar dlm documentary ini ialah the real truth bagaiman radikal islam wujud from the most beginning. well the docmentary lebih mengisahkan kewujudan dan kemajuan arab saudi. dan juga keburukkannya kerana di arab saudi lah juga tempatnya radicalism tumbuh dan sekaligus memperburukkan islam dan membuat orang melayu islam jadi bodoh seperti mas selamat. a must watch documentary.

StoryVille - The House of Saud

The Saudi royal family is not given to public pronouncements. In the wake of 9/11, which was a disaster for Saudi Arabia because Osama Bin Laden was himself a Saudi and had packed the planes with Saudi citizens, they have given exclusive access to Storyville.

They tell what is in effect their own story, and it is as if the House of Windsor had suddenly decided to go public with their own version of British history. But there's a catch - as we learn from episode one, the Saudi royal family is Saudi Arabia. The country is kept going by the monarchy, its priestly beliefs, and the largest oil reserves in the world.

The tale is by turns improbable and hilariously convincing. The Saudi royals prove to be a hyper-articulate lot. But their relations with the Americans resemble those enjoyed by Bertie Wooster and Jeeves. The Americans of course prove to be a very up-to-date Jeeves. They will supply anything the Saudis want, except when the question of the existence of Israel is raised.

The Saudis say they wish to change themselves, modernising the monarchy. Watch both programmes, and try to figure out whether they will ever be capable of doing so. A must.

Islamic Romance Movie

Ayat-ayat Cinta, an islamic romance movie. movie indonesia yg sedang ditayangkan di wayang, adalah satu cerita yg aku rasa patut ditontoni oleh orang2 melayu yg sedang bercinta, yg sedang bertunang dan yg sedang menunggu hari pernikahannya.

aku percaya korang tak tengok dia peh trailer tapi bila korang tengok muzik video rossa dgn lagu tema untuk movie tersebut, korang rasa macam cerita merepek aje. cos dats what i tot. cerita indon cinta-cinta, tapi ada orang2 arab, apa hal ni cerita? memang ada orang2 arab sebab cerita nya pasal si budak lelaki dari indonesia ni pelajar dari al-azhar. matlamatnya bukan saja untuk dapat ijazah tetapi untuk cari jodoh. cuma dia peh orang baik gila. memang tak hiraukan sangat dengan hal2 cinta ni. cuma dia tak perasan aje ada beberapa wanita yg sukakan dia. tapi masalahnya bila dia dah dapat jodoh, yg lain2 tu jealous, sehinggakan sanggup buat fitnah pasal dia, ada yg sanggup mati apabila dapat tau dia dah kawin. tu girl kristian pulak tu. kira lelaki ni memang special sangat gitulah.

sounds weird right? macam ceritanya cinta-jiwang rabak gitu. oh no no babe. the story banyak berunsur keislaman. even nak dapatkan jodoh pun cara islam woo. sebab tu kena tengok cerita dia. tengok dengan mak bapak pun gerek beb. not to worry if don't understand indonesian. at causeway point the movie got english subtitles.

some things i learnt from the movie adalah -

Save Money for Wedding!

its been a long time since i blog. nothing much happen. work, go home, sleep - work, go home, sleep. that's why no idea to blog until today!

i was listening to Warna accidentally and they were debating about wang hantaran. so it gave me some ideas to blog. i wanna talk about wedding day. i've got a few ideas on how to save some money for the big day. it may work.

-kompang-
from $150 now i heard its as much as $500. that's half of 1k. no way. makan hatey(hati). boleh matey(mati). tak boleh lah dey. too expensive.
my idea is - rent the kompang itself, no need the men, 10 is enough. gather all your cousins, male or female. teach them how to play the kompang and use them instead! renting is only about $50 at least! yeah! hey, playing the kompang is easy i tell you. of cos to practise, gotta use other stuffs first like textbook or milo tin. or even your desk. in fact 5 people is enough! cos i did it before. me and my MCG members had a mini show for the st patrick's day, and we only use 5 males, i think 6, to play the kompang while about 6 girls did their dance moves with sirih pinang! and the kompang sounds like the kompang! so no problem!

-food and drinks-
this part a bit difficult i guess. cos you still gotta use tukang masak that can cook big amounts of food. well just cut down desserts by buying alot of kuih lapis only at johor! and then just cut them to small pieces. i mean really small pieces. surely people eat it. maybe abit bigger than sugar cubes.

-decorations-
ask your sister or kakak saudara and call all their girlfriends to do deco for you for the table cloths, and maybe the sides of the HDB walls. just buy some nice coloured cloths, some plastic flowers and use those girls' expertise to decorate. i'm very sure the girls love decorating. i don't know why but i think girls like decorating stuffs.

-pelamin-
if only i got friends working as a carpenter, i can use them to make simple stage, get the girls to do some decorations and get 2 chairs, decorate it a bit, then put some Do-It-Yourself lightings. just use the HDB walls for the backdrop of the stage by putting some hari raya langsir that you can get at geylang during bulan puasa.

-entertainment-
ask your friends to play music for free! just provide them with mics and amplifier. i'm very sure your music lover friends who thinks they can sing and compose great malay love songs, don't mind playing to show off to guests. or the best, bring down your mp3 player, plug into a mini HiFi and play all your favourite malay rock ballads! sweet!

-kendarat and tukang cuci pinggan mangkuk-
this one more simple. make sure when you get the tukang masak, tell them no need to bring their own people to do the washing. we'll provide them. just ask your younger siblings and call their friends to come down and help out with the dishes. at the end of the day, just tip them with $10 and one packet of nasi minyak. for the older ones, buy for them 1 pack of malaysian or indonesian cigarrettes and one hand towel. hey, they did that during the old days you know. my uncle told me. except that the cigarettes were from singapore.
kendarat lagi senang. get your sister's girlfriends, ask them to wear nice2 or best, wear kebaya or baju kurung melayu. last but not least, tell them to smile!

-invitation cards-
ask your friend whose a graphic designer, like me, to design a card, the best is A5 size front printing only cos its easy to copy and its half of A4 size paper. then go to a photocopy shop and copy.

-honeymoon-
have you tried going honeymoon to Sentosa? ever thought of it? well, why not! rather then wasting thousands of dollars just for the flights and another few thousands for the hotels, why not use all those money and book the most expensive hotel in Sentosa! Sentosa Resort and Spa, the cheapest room is $380. Rasa Sentosa Resort by Shangri-La, situated at Siloso Beach some more! cheapest room is $240 only!
but what can you do at Sentosa? stupid question... alot of attaractions that you never get the chance to go during your bujang times cos you wanna save money. i myself haven't been to some of the attractions there. so how? Sentosa, your choice for your honeymoon! baik kape!
i love Sentosa. My favourite place since young.

oklah no more ideas already lah. if you got any crazy ideas on saving for your wedding day, tag it alright. my advice is, especially for the guys, save your money now. $200 a month should be enough for you to save until you're really ready to get married. but must start now! i've started my savings already since february. heheh. problem is jodoh. never mind, that can wait.
